Francisco Villa who's real name was Doroteo Anaya was the most popular and effective Revolutionary leader between 1913 and 1915. The battles to take the city of Torreon, Coahuila defeating the Federal Generals became mitical. The paintings was based using a very well known photograph that has been reproduced an infinite number of times.
