The Mille Miglia is probably the most grueling automobile event ever. One thousand miles beginning in Brescia along the Adriatic towards Rome and back on western Italy. Moss drove 1000 miles in 10 hrs, 17 min, 48 sec. beating the record in a Mercedes 300 SLR with Dennis Jenkinson as his copilot. The painting is a study of the results of this race. On the left of Sir Stirling Moss are the second place Juan Manuel Fangio, the third Umberto Maglioli are behind them Eugenio Castellotti who lead initially, Piero Taruffi who lead through Rome and behind John Fitch, Gardini, Herman. To his right are the engineers Rudolph Ulenhauth team Manager Alfred Neubauer and others. In front Moss the famous Mercedes-Benz SLR 722, behind are the Mercedes 658 and Ferrari 705.
