Ricardo Rodriguez was only 18 years old when he became a star racing automobile driver in sports and Grand Prix races. He and his brother Pedro were the leaders at Le Mans for many hours until their car failed. On May 5, 1962 he won the Targa Florio race on a Ferrari 246 SP. Shortly after he died in practice for the GP of Mexico. The painting shows him crossing the start-finish line as the victor.
